The meaning of gracious calling

1 Thessalonians 4:7-18; 9/19/2021; BCBC/IOUC; Rev. Paul Wang

Introduction

God calls us, it is grace. Therefore, the essence of the relationship between God and man is His gracious calling. Through God’s call to Abraham, God let us see His will of salvation. Through the call to Moses, God let us see the act of salvation. Through the call to His only beloved Son, Jesus Christ, we see hope! Today, in 1 Thessalonians, Paul shows us the meaning of gracious calling. Let’s look at the first point: Continue reading “09/19/2021 The meaning of gracious calling” →

What is your view of life and death? Either the materialist people‘s “death is like going out of a lamp”, or you believe in “nothing matters” and think that life is an absurd stage. But after all, you have to explain to life and death, right? Your parents, the playmates who grew up with you, the friendship of classmates, the memories of the childhood friends, the love of husband and wife, the care of children, neighbors, colleagues, etc., are all intertwining your life trajectory. Maybe we haven’t thought about it, but we still have to be patient in love? Yes, in fact, only in love can patience bear the fruit! 08/22/2021 Do not ask for the glory of men

Do not ask for the glory of men

1Thessalonians 2:6-10; 8/22/2021; BCBC/IOUC; Rev. Paul Wang

Introduction

What is glory? The glory mentioned in the Bible refers to the manifestation of God’s ontology. Especially in the New Testament, ontology asks about the relationship between Jesus and the Father. In this way, the relationship of the Holy Spirit will inevitably be asked. Therefore, the orientation of ontology will inevitably mention the proposition of the Trinity. The word “Trinity” is never mentioned in the Bible, but it clearly mentions the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. When we ask about the relationship between these three, we are discussing the Trinity. It’s impossible to bury your head and escape!

When glory enters the hearts of people, there will be a tendency of polarization: one is to snatch the glory of God, and the other is to give glory to the only God worthy of glory. What is your choice? Let’s look at the first point: Continue reading “08/22/2021 Do not ask for the glory of men” →

08/15/2021 Entrustment of the gospel

Entrustment of the gospel

1 Thessalonians 2:1-5; BCBC/IOUC; 8/15/2021; Rev. Paul Wang

Introduction

The essence of being chosen by God is to be entrusted by God, which is the entrustment of the gospel. If someone thinks wrong, thinks too much, and thinks that they can come to the church and deceive themselves, not preach the gospel, or follow the truth of the Lord, then they will have no chance of God’s choosing. Because the gospel is the power of God to save everyone who believes. Do you believe it? If you believe, you must be commensurate with what you believe and complete the entrustment of the gospel. Do you want to? Let’s look at the first point: Continue reading “08/15/2021 Entrustment of the gospel” →

Joy in affliction

1 Thessalonians 1:1-10; BCBC/IOUC; 8/8/2021; Rev. Paul Wang

Introduction

Today we begin to talk about 1 Thessalonians, which is a book of Paul’s letter written earlier in the New Testament (52AC?). I believe it should be the place where the apostle Paul reached during his second missionary journey. The focus is on where there is a synagogue. This is one of the main tribulations suffered by early Christians, and this is an important background for understanding this book. Thessalonica is located in the northwest corner of the Aegean Sea in Greece, with a population of one million, making it the second largest city in Greece.但是, However, at that time Thessalonica still belonged to Macedonia, and even the capital of Macedonia. Paul and Barnabas had a vision of God when they were in Troas (Acts 16:8), and God called them through a Macedonian: During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, Come over to Macedonia and help us. (Acts 16:9) Let’s see the first point: Continue reading “08/08/2021 Joy in affliction” →
